WED exclusion zones

Featured Replies

Good day.

I have downloaded my local airport from the org. Its great.

However, I have roads going through the airport with traffic on! I've tried creating an exclusion zone in wed, and it appears OK, as I export the airport. But when I load x-plane back up, the whole airport has disappeared, no objects?

What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

not easy to say, we need more info. Did you add the exclusion zone to the package you downloaded, or did you try to make it in your "own" airport? In this case your "own" airport will have the same ICAO as the downloaded package, and therefore X-Plane will only load your airport, not the downloaded one. You can´t have two airports with the same ICAO code.

If you try to work on an airport that you downloaded, you will have to "import" it into WED first, both the .apt and the .dsf files. It is rare that designers include their .xml files that are instantly readible by WED, as it only increases package size and most authors couldn´t ever understand why anyone else would want to change anything about their perfect airport ;-)

I am trying to edit a downloaded package, and it appears to have an xml file in it? an earth.wed file?

Ahhhh I've figured it out. I had top also import the .dsf file like you said so that the objects showed up! thank you!
