August 17, 200520 yr Hi fellow flightsim pilots. i am getting a frame rate hit anywhere i am in the DFW area with nothing but default terrain and scenery installed. I have my traffic rate at 100%. I am only getting about 7-9 FPS anywhere any the dallas area. Once I fly out of the DFW area my frames jump back up to 14-19. What is everybody else getting? P4 3.0 gig radeon 128mb vcard. Is there any way I can getr FPS up in this area. As of now I wouldn't even dream of adding add-on scenery. Thanks in advance and Happy Flying.
August 17, 200520 yr Author Yep, I live 5 miles from there, but never fly out of there because I do get a hit, especially with traffic as it is such a huge airport.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
August 17, 200520 yr Yes....but, what AI traffic package are you using? If that is the default FS9 AI then it looks like any of the add-on packs would cripple your PC at present without a serious upgrade! If you are using one of the add-on AI packages, try running between 50-75% AI traffic. You'll still get a very busy and realistic looking airport, but it will easier to manage!
August 17, 200520 yr >Yes....but, what AI traffic package are you using? That's a good point, I know with Ultimate Traffic I get a hit in frames at any of the major US hubs, especially the centrally located ones ORD and DFW. Try turning off traffic completely and see how fps are. I fly a lot now without any traffic. AI traffic is great, but when you combine it with complex weather and a sophisticated add-on payware plane and 3rd party scenery, performance can suffer. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
August 17, 200520 yr Author Because it is a fairly detailed airport and it's size, I get a slight hit by default, no traffic. I use UT with several of the more abundant aircraft swapped to AIA and FSP and about 3/4 gates used. It's a fairly busy airport in real life and seeing it everyday, it's hard to use it in FS without it being that way, unfortunately, my XP3200, 9800 pro, 2 gig 3500 gaming DDR just isn't cutting it in that location. I get better performance at KLAX with full traffic, LOLRegards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
