2 questions about v3

Featured Replies

Hello,

First things first: This is the best simulator I've ever had in 20+ years

Now the questions:

1. Those beautifull stars we can see in the sky are they accurate, can we navigate with them?

2. Having bathimetry does it mean we have tides also?

Thanks and happy flights

I am pretty sure that P3D is the same as FSX in this matter.

Your question interested me into that point, that I had done some research and found this:

Yes, FSX has accurate celestial projection that you can navigate with. There is even a bubble se'xtant gauge you can install on FSX that will compare your assumed position with the known position of a star, and I've been playing about with it.

And BTW, have you read 'Fate Is the Hunter' by Ernest K. Gann ? It is one of the most poetic books about flying I have read. Your question reminded me the fragment, where they were flying through the Atlantic Ocean, used celestial navigation and their navigator turned out to be a phony who had no practical knowledge of this.

Sometimes, I am pretty surprised how all those pilots even survived 40s and 50s.
