I use an X box controller for P3D and FSX (purist can now leave the room). Sure I have the yoke, pedals and throttles but sometimes you are in a hurry or just want to get in the air. Also I find with airliners there is not much real flying.

I have the Xbox controller set up perfectly with triggers for rudder and dual front buttons for right and left brake and d pad for trims. My buddy even bought one after flying with mine for awhile.

Now I have acquired a Steam controller that is similar to the Xbox controller but with more buttons and two strange circular pads instead of joysticks. The setup is odd because you must have a Steam game to use it. It seems that it works as an overlay to your game and overrides your games normal controller adjustments. The adjustments and key bindings are done in Steam and not in your game.

The only flight sim I have in my Steam library is FSX SE so  I tried it and it worked with the Steam controller. I am going to try to implant P3D into my Steam library as an addon game in hope that it will also work. If the game works you can change any control to any keyboard input so the options are many.

Has anyone tried putting a flightsim besides FSX SE into their Steam library and if so how did it work out for you?
