FSX Flight 1 ATR FMC / FMS Question

Featured Replies

Refresher Training here....

I have posted this on the Flight 1 ATR forum as well.  But it doesn't look like it gets too much traffic these days, so I thought I would post the question here....

So I have programmed and activated the FMC.  But how do I engage the FMC so the aircraft starts to follow the programmed flight plan in the FMC?

I have tried engaging the NAV but not sure what the actual steps are, and the manual does a good job describing the programming of the flight plan, but I didn't see when you activate it what you have to do as far as the autopilot to engage the FMC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

I don't have the Flight1 ATR, but make sure you've got your HSI CDI set to "FMS". Otherwise, when you hit nav on the autopilot, you're trying to capture whatever VOR/LOC source is on the HSI.

Thanks for the reply.  Just wondering if any actual Flight 1 ATR users can shed some light on specifically how to do it.

Thanks

It's not compatible with the Steam edition, so I assume a lot of people have stopped using it.  I loved that plane in FS9.  If I had my manuals around here I could tell you since I flew it a lot, but that was like 9 years ago.

I do remember it was tricky to understand how to get it to follow the FMC programmed path.  Nothing like most aircraft.  It only has LNAV too, no VNAV.  You have to control the speed yourself.  You can command VS and hold altitude, but you have to operate the throttle yourself.  It didn't need much adjustment though; only on approach and landing.  LNAV must be within a certain NM to follow the path and the programmed path was often poor, with 90 turns and unrealistic waypoint jumps.  I do remember it wouldn't do holds or really allow a proper flight plan.  SIDs and STARs were missing waypoints, ect...

Without the manual I can't tell you more, sorry.  Just been too long.
