F1 GTN 750 + RXP GNS 530

Recommended Posts

If you are using this aircraft in FSX, you can replace the lower GNS530 by an RXP model.

Just set Radios=2 and LinkVOR=2  in the rxpgns.ini file.

To operate the knobs, you will want a popup window for the GNS.

//--------------------------------------------------------
[Window02]
Background_color=8,8,8
size_mm=524,378
visible=0
ident=15532
window_size= 0.310,  0.380
position=2
no_luminous=1
zorder=7

gauge00=RXPGNS!GNS530,   0,0,520,378

....

[Vcockpit01]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=1024,1024
visible=1
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$Panel_1

gauge00=EFD1000_CF406!EFD1000Config,    0,0,10,10
gauge01=EFD1000_CF406!EFD1000_pfd,      0,0,514,1024
gauge02=CF406!Toggle_EFD,               0,0,512,  64
//gauge03=GPS530_3D_CF406!GPS_530_3D,   512,  0, 510,372
//gauge04=GPS530_3D_CF406!GPS_5302_3D,  512,373, 510,372
gauge04=RXPGNS!GNS530,  512,373, 510,372
//gauge05=CF406!ToggleCAR530,          512,  0, 510, 32
gauge06=CARSound_CF406!CarSound,  0,0,5,5

RXPGNS.ini:

[GNS530]
Popup=15532
AutoPilotMode=2
Radios=2
LinkVor=2
etc

Hi Bert, good mod.  I was under the impression that the F1 GTN and RXP GNSs conflicted when in use together (so it was always one or the other) but your mod here suggests that's not the case?

If the GTN is set to control NAV1 and the RXP unit is set to NAV2, they seem to coexist..

OK... maybe not quite as elegant as I wanted it to be.

I find that I need to right-click on the Memory Card slot on the GNS (bottom right) to switch control to the GTN.

Pay attention to the HSI when you power on the GTN.. if it does not deflect the needles on the test page, execute the above.

Also, if you mouse over the memory card slot, with Tooltips on, you want it say:

Active Navigation device is FS GPS, NOT RealityXP GNS 530. Right click to change..

Ah I see.  That makes sense for needing to click the memory slot on the RXP - that will set it to use the FS database, rather than RXP, which I guess will resolve any conflict with the GTN which is applying it's custom database.     Very interesting - I've always shyed away from any mixing of GTN / RXP, believing it was a no-go area - will have to have a look at some of my panel mods again to remove the CAR GNS430s!   Great stuff.

I have just been told by Flight1 that this may cause problems, including system crashes, so be warned..

I am no longer recommending this modification  :Shame On You:
