Katrina killing FPS?

Featured Replies

not having Active Sky,but maybe it's due to the complexity of a hurricane system?cheersJP.

Check your cloud layers in the setup. Try it with something like 5. Complex, multi layer systems are terrible on fps. Limiting the number should help a lot.

Have you tried this in other areas that are uneffected by Katrina?

I've noticed a problem if I create a flight in areas affected by hurricane Katrina. I am using ASV with FE. The weather loads up with strong winds and heavy cloud layers which is obviously correct given the weather situation. After takeoff, I notice that at random points during the flight the FPS drops dramatically (below 10) and then jumps back up immediately. This causes a very noticeable stutter and slowdown. I've flown with lots of clouds before and things were smooth so I'm curious why this situation is causing a problem. Thank you.

Just spent fifteen minutes slicing and dicing this thread to clean it up, and now I will lock it. While I don't condone the language used in reaction to the thread's topic, I do believe this thread--perhaps just its title, can be seen as being in bad taste. Note that I say the thread can be seen that way, because I don't think the thread's author meant it to be in bad taste. Some topics suffer from bad timing, and this is one, especially after a day with mounting emotional losses.I suggest the author revisit this later if the replies I have kept haven't helped answer his question, perhaps with a broader scope rather than associating it with what will certainly be the most costly natural disaster the U.S. has ever seen, likely both in terms of life and property.-John
