Still in the process of installing p3dv3 so not added anything to the config

but I was wondering if the affinity mask is still required?

Alnd if it is can someone with more knowledge than me confirm if a 6 core cpu with hyperthreading enabled would read 4092 if core 0 was disabled for use with system ops

There's not much use asking a question like that here, you'll probably get 47 different answers. Personally I'm using the default cfg file, with no tweaks at all, and everything is running great. I would suggest that you use the affinity mask and see what it does. Maybe you'll get an improvement, maybe not.
