Size of the plane in spot view.

Featured Replies

Hey All;I've been searching for an answer for a couple of days with no luck.I'm wondering why when you have two planes which are about the same size in real life. When viewed through the sim spot view, both witha zoom factor of 1.00, one will fill the screen while the other lookslike it's off in the distance? Thanks in advance for any info.Bob

Maybe because it *is* off in the distance? Have you tried changing the view distance in the View Options box (view menu, then options if I remember correctly)?

Thanks for the reply; No, I have not tried to alter that setting. I will haveto look for that one. I hope it's that simple.

Also may I suggest the freeware utility F1View. It lets you use your mouse to pan & zoom and also it can go beyond the viewing-constraints of FS9.Very handy for taking screeshots and using in VCs!http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to check that util. out.

Your "viewing distance" is primarily controlled by the model's radius, as set in the .mdl file.Start AFCAD and use the "Aircraft Editor" function to read all your installed .mdl files. Pick the two in question and compare their "radius" values. You can modify the "radius" value your .mdl file uses by simply entering in a new number. AFCAD will copy the original .mdl file for backup, then update the .mdl file with the new radius value. ;)
