Scenery object libraries and memory

Recommended Posts

I have been installing freeware scenery lately which utilizes object libraries from other sources.  These libraries are added to Addon Scenery and then marked active in scenery.cfg.

My question is, do these objects libraries consume memory, or VAS if the associated scenery area isn't loaded?

Currently, I'm disabling them when I turn off the scenery, but several scenery areas use the same object library so it becomes difficult to determine what to turn on and what to turn off.

Is it safe, memory-wise, just to leave all of the object libraries always on?

Thanks,

Ernie

Leave 'em on. Until the objects are called by a placement file they are nothing more than an index listing which will not consume enough memory to make a difference.

If having the index active makes a big enough difference then you will never have enough VAS for the sim to render the models and then texture them.

Joe
