September 21, 200520 yr I lift my glass to Mr. Amenab Slade, whose finely crafted KPNE scenery I've just installed. Having learned to fly there (at Hortman Aviation), it will forever be my home airport (I'm on the west coast now). Though Microsoft did 'ok' with the generic scenery, I always found it lacking. The moment I fired-up FS9 with your scenery, I was 'there' again...and there was Hortman's building behind me !! (And there was the Jet Center fuel vehicles in my way :) ). Again, thank you for a first class job on an airport I've been hoping to see. I heartily recommend this scenery to anyone who's been there. Thank you. Quentin J. Parker, ASEL, PA28-140/161, KPNETaurion
September 26, 200520 yr Quentin,Thanks for the recognition. I appreciate your support and I'm glad you enjoy the scenery. Like you I fly at Hortman (obtained PPL in 01 there.) The scenery was definitely lacking and deserved proper representation. It is as accurate as possible derived from aerial and satellite photos. Anyone who has been to the airport like you and I can truly appreciate the level of detail and placement/positioning of buildings and objects. Again thanks. btw look out for KFRG scenery in a few weeks. this will be even better.
September 26, 200520 yr I live just a few miles from there and love the scenery. I enjoy flying from a detailed Airport so close to home. Thanks Andrew
September 26, 200520 yr Author Yes..I can imagine the feeling of having this detailed airport to fly from if you're familiar with it in real life. I would pay for a detailed KABE which is close to where I live, and not far from KPNE. Since I use it all the time to connect to flights, I would find great pleasure in flying out of it in all its true detail.
September 26, 200520 yr WOW..small world! I fly survey out of PNE in a Navajo. Been doing it for two years now. Our two buildings are perfect. Now firing up FS9 is just like going to work. Neat to see PNE in FS9!Mike
September 26, 200520 yr Hey any PA airport east of Harrisburg would be great. I had done a scenery of Wings N67 (for Fs2k2) which is in the Township I work as a firefighter and it was ok but would have been better done by someone with a little more know how then me. I also use the KRDG by the MAAM-Sim group. That is a payware quality scenery at a freeware price;) Andrew
September 27, 200520 yr Is the Wings field scenery usable in FS2K4? I work in the office complex that's under the approach to Rwy 60...Simpit
September 27, 200520 yr No I dont have it any more. Sorry about that. You must work in Sentry Park. We go to that complex for alot of Fire Alarms. Andrew
September 27, 200520 yr Spilok,I highly recommend you learn scenery design. I taught myself in one month and its very rewarding. In fact its quite addictive. You can have total control of how successful KABE will appear in FS9. A little research and time well spent is more than worth the effort in my opinion.I used a program called novasim primarily. I also used RWY12 for small object placement and Ground2k4 for accuracy of the surrounding terrain. Aerial photos were found from airliners.net, myaviation.net and jetphotos.net and airport tenant websites like Keystone aerial survey. Also i used globexplorer.com and maps.google.com for accurate positioning. A good design app like paint shop pro (free 30 day trial) or photoshop is necessary for textures. If I can be of any help please let me know as the community needs more airport scenery designers.
September 27, 200520 yr You are correct. The building I'm in just had a snap fire drill last week, if you were one of the engines standing by...Just looking at the aerial - I sit closer to the end of the runway than the airports buildings do!Simpit
September 28, 200520 yr Author I appreciate your comments. Time is a killer. I run a business and probably work 12 hrs a day. Yes...I could learn it, but just flying is so therapeutic for me, that that's what I do. Perhaps some day, but right now, I'd rather pay a few dollars to someone who designs a great KABE for me to use....and call my default airport.
