February 17, 201610 yr I too have a new Windows 10 PC (i5 6400). It was built with-out any junk ware.by a company here in the UK. I use FSX-SE version with no problems at all. However It is a 10 GB download. I also use the Boxed version, but do have a few minor problems including the odd, 'microsoft have found a problem and are closing the program'. I would suggest getting FSX-SE and Not using Microsoft Boxed version. Happy flying. Corrie
February 17, 201610 yr Author Thank you again for the inputs however I'm feeling 'jinxed'. The new HP machine worked for four days, perfectly, and then... I shut it down one night, got up the next morning and all that would come up was the screensaver. Mouse cursor was there but wouldn't do anything. No start menu, not task bar, no icons. Re-booted with the same results. I packed it up, took it back to Best Buy and the 'Geek Squad' was baffled. They said they had never seen anything like it. They did agree that it was an OS (Windows 10) problem and not hardware. The same options as the first time was offered; replace, refund or try a different computer. I elected to give it one more try and went home with 'another' new computer. It is the same HP and so far is working fine but I have not tried loading FS, or any programs. Because it is so superior to my old computer when using the Internet I'll probably just use it for that and go back to using my old reliable 2004 FS and Windows XP. It never fails me, does most of what I want it to do and the graphics are good enough for my purposes. Thanks again for the offers of help and advice but it looks like MS won this round. Tom
February 17, 201610 yr AA just seems better under fsx-se, p3d is far better with vas, so i use both, also i am able to use all my addons until everything is ported.
February 26, 201610 yr Hi, My suggestion, "don't give up". I am not a pc whiz, nor an expert on MSFS. I have had some varied experiences with FSX on a laptop. It had Win 8.1 installed, and I eventually was able to fly Cessnas without too much pc stutter. (I didn't dare try the more complex craft.) Then I updated to Win 10. On trying to run FSX I got a message giving me a choice, choosing one or the other caused the program to crash. It never loaded. That was five months ago. I gave up. In the last month, Windows did it's thing and updated something or other. So I took a chance and clicked FSX. It loaded! I was delighted. I had done nothing. I have not tried FSX now for 10 days, so I cannot say if it still "flies". I will try again after I send this message. When it works, I stay off-line and have no other program running like Word. My copy of FSX is from a shop, the discs, not the Steam version. If after trying again, I find it does not work, I'll send an update. Best regards, Frank M
