P3D 3.2 WAVES - Can I slow them down?

Featured Replies

Great to see some wave action now in P3D but...they are moving way tooooo fast! Does anyone know of a way to slow them down? Any edits in any xml files?

EDIT: More info from FSX experiments here:

Seems to help. Will continue experimenting.

If anyone else has success slowing down their P3D waves please post here!

Thanks

Adam

I too am trying to slow these heinous waves. I found that same simforum topic, but it seems you can slow these waves only so much. I edited the red lines even further, but its not clear if the waves are slowing more at this point.

By trial and error, I find that the following changes make a big improvement:

For Emitter.0 :
Rate=0.2, 0.2
Z Particle Velocity=.25, .5
For Particle.0 :
Lifetime=4.5, 5.5
X Scale=25, 40
Y Scale=5, 10
Drag=0.1, 0.15

I've deleted Emitter (etc) .1 completely, which I think is for the receding waves.

Hope the above helps.

EDIT: Ok wait a minute! Scratch everything. I completely deleted the fx_waves.fx, reloaded P3D and the waves are still there. Something else is creating these waves. That file has zero effect. Meh...back to the drawing board.

Damn that's annoying. I didn't notice much difference either. Maybe P3D makes a new copy of the fx file if you delete it (like with the cfg). I dunno. The search continues to eradicate comic waves from P3D! :D
