Spare PC, what to do with it?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just built a new PC (6700k, GTX 970 etc) and have my old computer just sitting here. The spec of it is..

Intel G3258 @ 4.5hz

8Gb DDR3 Ram

250GB SSD Drive

Onboard Graphics

I have heard that you can run P3D with 2 computers if you use fsuipc. My question is this..

Would I gain significantly using this spare pc to run weather or other stuff basing it on using the onboard graphics as i carried my GTX 970 over to my new build?

If not, any other uses for my spare PC?

Matt

You can run a whole variety of ancillary programs via the LAN (some via Simconnect, some via WideFS/FSUIPC), such as:

PFE/Pro-ATCX/Radar Contact/Pilot2ATC (ATC programs)

Activesky Next (weather)

Aivlasoft EFB/FS Commander (moving map)

Air Traffic Manager (AI traffic manager)

It's nice to do ATC on a 2nd PC, since you can split the audio for the sim and the ATC between the computers.  It also reduces workload on the primary sim PC.

None of these need a powerful GPU running on the 2nd PC

Thanks for the reply. Will i notice a good difference offloading them onto this spare PC or are we talking 1-2fps?
