Multi-Monitor setup, the wrong way?
Hi, Just wondering why most people who use a multi monitor setup, normally have a screen dead centre, then 2 screens at the side? The 737 cockpit for example, has a design similar to this.. I would have thought 2x 29" ultrawide slightly angled in for the front and then 2x 24" monitors for the side would look far more realistic? Also, if i was to do that, how would i get it so the 24" monitors would show the true aspect of how it would look if i was sat in a plane? Matt

Spare PC, what to do with it?
Hi, I have just built a new PC (6700k, GTX 970 etc) and have my old computer just sitting here. The spec of it is.. Intel G3258 @ 4.5hz 8Gb DDR3 Ram 250GB SSD Drive Onboard Graphics I have heard that you can run P3D with 2 computers if you use fsuipc. My question is this.. Would I gain significantly using this spare pc to run weather or other stuff basing it on using the onboard graphics as i carried my GTX 970 over to my new build? If not, any other uses for my spare PC? Matt

FSX on Intel Pentium G3258
mattprince replied to 1234plane's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI have just upgraded from the G3258 running with a 970 and got great fps on fsx. Prepar3d was a hog hence why i upgraded to a 6700k. In FSX the G3258 is perfect if you dont mind turning the ettings down slightly. Matt

New Build. About to buy but need help please :)
mattprince replied to mattprince's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcYou know, Ive had this with a few electronic retailers over the last 2 years. Carphonewarehouse tried to give me a used iphone 6s plus. When i kicked off it had been handled, he looked at me as though to say "so?". I explained in the best way , i wasn't paying literally thousands over 2yrs on a contract to have a used phone. I fired up Prepar3d V3 today with my other PC (Pentium K overclocked to 4.5ghz, 8GB DDR3 Ram, Nvidia GTX 970) and you know what , it ran bloody lovely. Everything on max apart from draw distance was at half and i was getting 65-70fps at LOWI Innsbruck and was still getting mid 40's at Manchester and Gatwick. Fired up X Plane 10 and was getting about 52fps at LOWI Innsbruck and 35ish at Manchester and Gatwick. Thats both with no addons so dont know how much REX and Active Sky etc would drag them fps down? Will i see a drastic increase going with the 6700k and 980ti?

mattprince replied to mattprince's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHi, I do use Overclockers for most if not all my stuff as only live 10 mins away from them which comes in handy for fast RMA's etc They dont stock them though as of yet Scan is also good in the UK but based on my personal experience i wouldnt touch Aria or Ebuyer again for ANYTHING.

New Build. About to buy but need help please :)
mattprince replied to mattprince's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHi, I have always overclocked my CPU's and never had a problem so see it as extra performance with no negative effect. I don't massively overclock my CPU's so don't see any of the horror stories I see on the internet Cheers for the info. Will change the ram to one of them Yeah will stick with the 6700k then as 5820 still going to be more than £100 more when I factor in the motherboard. I just thought quad channel ram might have given me a good amount of extra performance, that's the only reason i was thinking of the X99 platform.

New Build. About to buy but need help please :)
Hi, About to take the plunge on a new build and after some advice. I will be using Prepar3d V3 exclusively so don't need it to be good for FSX or X Plane. The spec I have in mind is.. Intel i7 6700k overclocked to 4.5ghz MSI Z170 Motherboard 16GB DDR4 2400mhz Ram (2x8gb) MSI Nvidia 980ti 6GB Graphics Card 250GB SSD for Operating System 250GB SSD for Prepar3d and addons LG 29" Super Widescreen Monitor (already have this and love it) My question is, will I gain anything by going the X99 5820k route with it being 6 core? Am I making the right decision going Nvidia now? Based on AMD getting a lot better performance with DX12? Will P3D ever be updated to DX12 to take advantage of the better performance? If so, should I go AMD 8350 and hope for DX12? Any help really appreciated Matt

AMD config file
Hi,I know AMD cards aren't the best for FSX but I got a good deal on a 7850. Can remember a while back seeing a config file you could replace the original one with for AMD cards but cant seem to find it anywhere. Any ideas?

X Plane 10 - Questions before buying!
Hi, I've built my new computer system now (i5 3570k, ATI 7770 graphics etc etc) and am wanting to go all x-plane as i think in the future it will be the only one any good. I have a few questions that i would love an answer to, if somebody could be so kind... In FSX you can have the interior view as though you are sitting in the seat and if you press the - key you can zoom out so you can see more of the dash. Is this possible in xp10? In FSX you can have a view where you are at the tail of the aircraft and if you turn you still keep the plane straight in view , in xplane it moves about so you have to keep centering it, if you know what i mean, Can you adjust it so it doesnt? Does trackir work in xp10? Ive heard that you cant have seperate displays, just displaying the instruments for instance. Is this true? If so why would they leave that out?? In your opinion , would xp10 be good for a home cockpit eventually? Thanks Matt
