October 5, 200520 yr Hi All,I recently installed another version of FS9 on a new hard drive (slave) on my pc - I have been trying to follow different posts in the forums but I think I have got a little lost now...These are the steps that I follewed:Renamed FS9.exe and FS9.confg files to FS9old.exe and FS9old.configInstalled FS on Drive F (slave)When I boot up the oringinal FS on my C drive all is well. And the same goes for the new version on the F Drive but where does the new version save its .confg file? etc. (do they share the same somehow)? And is it possible to re-instal various add-ons to my new F drive without any problems? Please help...ThanksPHILBAW843
October 5, 200520 yr <<>If you cannot find a second APPLICATION DATA/MICROSOFT/FS9/FS9.CFG on your 'F' drive, the answer must be yes!Just FYI, however, when you HAVE located it, it's always possible to have different CFG files for the two sims, should you wish to for any reason. I have several, configured for different hardware setups. The trick is to make copies of the FS9.EXE file - to, say, FS9STICK.EXE as an example - and then copy and rename the CFG file similarly i.e. FS9STICK.CFG. Then configure away. When you boot up using FS9STICK.EXE, the sim will start as usual but will reference FS9STICK.CFG with your alternative settings.<<>>Sure. I have three fully separate installations on one drive, actually; FS9 default (for testing development stuff), FS9-full-of-crap and Golden Wings. The latter two have totally different scenery and aircraft collections. That said, if you separate out scenery, for example, you can get two installations of the sim to share access to it if you need to save space.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href='http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html' target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
October 6, 200520 yr I created a separate install too for Golden Wings. But how do you manage applications like Active Sky and Flight Environment with 2 FS versions on the drive (as far as I see it these programs install only once and always refer to the one FS path they found during install)?Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales. October 6, 200520 yr Yes this is a very valid point does anyone know if this is possible to have two installations (one on C: and the other on F: ) of Active Sky which work independently of each other?ThanksPHIL
