Unlimited FPS vs locked FPS

Featured Replies

When I set FPS to unlimited, I get 60+ PFS, and all is very super smooth - EXCEPT:

1) GSX service cars etc are stuttering heavily

2) GSX and sometimes the airplanes themselves change into black colouring only

If I lock the FPS at, let's say 30, everything runs smoothly enough to enjoy (incl GSX) and no weird colour problems.

So that's the solution I guess. But I would still like to know why "unlimited FP"S can have such an impact on things.

P3D 3.2.3 (latest version), WIN10

Instead of locked: you could also try unlimited plus vsync and triple buffering on. That gives you 60 fps on a 60 Hz monitor.

If you lock frames, there is more 'time' for the graphics engine to calculate terrain etc. but you sacrifice performance.

I also add the NI Limiter at 60 which really smooths things out.
