BEV causing stutter

Featured Replies

Just purchased and installed BEV. It looks fabulous but unfortunately every time I'm coming in for a landing and near the airport, an annoying stutter develops. I know it's due to BEV because I did not have this problem before installing it. Anyone else with a similar experience? Thank you.

Despite loads more autogen, the sim seems smoother than before. There are some 256x256 texture options in the Configurator, smaller than the 512x512 default BEV. Have you tried those? It might be an idea to list your computer specs as well, in case theres an issue there. Allcott

If you go through the menu's one by one, you'll find several options shown as 256x256 in the preview pane. You really shouldn't be having a problem, not with those specs, so it might be worth having a browse throught the hardware forum above to see if any issues might relate to your experience.Allcott

I have other addons such as Flight Evironment, Ultimate Terrain, and ASV and with all my sliders and settings maxed out and it runs smooth as silk but as soon as I added BEV the stuttering showed up.

One thing you might want to check is the amount of free disk space you have. Like you I have been loading up my computer with all these wonderful add ins-but noticed slower, jerkier response. I just assumed it was all the additinal overload-but a few days ago it just became not acceptable. I took at look at my hard drive and was amazed to find I only had 17 GB left! I had no idea I had been gobbling up my hard drive space so quickly.I chose to compress it to free up space-now I am back to nice performance.I find I get better performance with the bev textures. It is amazing how much space all these add ins take!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I am at work now, but if I recall correctly, there is a pre-defined theme for 256. You can just select that and apply. There should be no issues with performance, as the textures are the exact same size as the MS defaults, except for a few farm texturs, and changing them to 256 takes care of that.-As has been suggested, you might check your free disk space. -You may try defragging if you haven't done that in while. -Have you tried the good old fashioned reboot?-Have you applied the MS 9.1 update, which helped with some autogen problems? You might try decreasing your autogen slider settings a bit, but honestly, you shouldn't have much trouble running BEV on your rig. Other than more autogen than what your default shows, performance should be identical to what you had been getting, pre-BEV, be that good or bad.Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]BEVBetaSig.jpg

Might also want to set your sight distance to 60mi / 96km. There really isnt a reason to have it go any further, especially if you run Flight Environment and ASV, as they tend to make weather more realistic and most of the time in flight you dont see much further than that. Set your cloud draw distance to 60 mi / 96km as well as its the same. you really dont see further out and I have found its just a hog on your graphics card to put them any further out.

If you go back to the pre-Bev default, or even uninstall BEV, does that make any difference? If you do uninstall, make sure you apply the "pre-BEV" theme in the configuator to get you back to where you where before you uninstall.I might suggest posting over at the BEV forums. The technical guys check in there regularly.Tony=http://www.flightsim-bevs.com]BEVBetaSig.jpg

I've tried the cloud distance settings that were suggested but that did not seem to have any effect. I uninstalled BEV and things now seem to be back to normal although I am continuing to experiment just to make sure. I would definitely like to use BEV again if I could find a solution to this issue.
