April 15, 201610 yr Have a read of this and tune your system before spending more money:- http://www.simforums.com/Forums/the-fsx-computer-system-the-bible-by-nickn_topic46211.html Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
April 15, 201610 yr Makes me sad i just built this computer. It plays all my other games perfectly fine. Idk why FSX has to be so damn complicated! Well another game that I play only uses 600-700 draw calls at any given time. It's very light on performance. FSX can use up to 6000 draw calls at max settings. Average settings is around 2200-2500 with addons. Totally system dependent though. Every setup is different. Then again, FSX has to render the entire world (or the visible portion anyways), while these other games don't. So that's why FSX doesn't get as many FPS. The AI eats up draw calls, and it's not multithreaded (unlike autogen and the terrain engine which is), so I've been told by Microsoft. More draw calls means less FPS. Shaders can also play a role in your performance. Things like clouds, shadows, HDR lighting (DX10) can hurt performance on a weak GPU in FSX. I know with mine, when I have shadows turned on, I lose around 15-20 FPS. Jeff Thomson
