CTRL E auto start for FSX

Featured Replies

Hi All,

This may be off topic but I am hopping the since this is a design forum some one may be able to give me the answer I am looking for.

Dose any one know which file or where to find the info on the CTRL E auto start for FSX?
My problem is from cold and dark I can get the engine's to start looking at the gauge's but the rotor's do not turn.
If I do a CTRL E auto start then shut it down I can start it every time using the start up from the user manual.
So the CTRL E auto start must be setting some variable that is not listed in the manual.
I have tried rotor brake and clutch etc.

Thanks for any help or ideas you may have.

Load any default aircraft/helo and watch the 3d controls during a Ctrl-E autostart. This will let you see what commands are sent to the sim and in what sequence.

Probably the one that's missed is "Mixture - Full Rich". When the 'mixtures' are set to full lean, no fuel will flow! So even if you make sure to toggle the fuel valves open, unless you force mixture to "full rich" you will not have any fuel with which to start the engine(s).

It does not matter one bit whether the engine(s) have or use "mixture controls" the way the sim is built we have to take these controls into account during our manual engine start logic.

I'm happy to have helped out. I constantly forget this myself at times because I'll wonder why my aircraft won't start...

...then glance down and notice my CH Yoke's "Mixture" control pulled back to full lean (fuel off)! :Clown:
