November 6, 200520 yr i have been installing some afcads that will open up multiple runways for t/o and landings but then i also noticed that it completely whacks out the built in fs9 atc.for example. and this is just one, most of them do something like this, i have imagine simulations kden installed and have gotton a d/l afcad here for that specific scenery and when atc tells me im going to land on visual 12, well kden doesnt have a 12, one time atc told me to land on 20 at ksfo, well ksfo doesnt have 20, it has 19L/R but no 20... so what gives? why does it do thatdo i have something setup wrong?thanksciao!Brian S Ciao!
November 7, 200520 yr There are some inherent problems with crossing runway AFCAD files. We have to either except these problems or not use these type AFCAD files. The only way to fool FS into thinking the runways are parallel is to create a group of fake runways so that no two runways are 8 degrees apart. That is why you hear the fake runways on the ATIS and occasionally in the air.The only way to avoid having the ATC assign the runways is to locate the "STAR" of fake runways in an area where AI or user aircraft will not fly over the STAR. It also needs to be located about 100nm away from the airport. Then if the center assigns the runway, you will not hear it.KSFO is one of the hardest in the FS world to make work - I haven't seen a good crossing runway for that airport - not to say that someone hasn't made one.KDEN - Jim Vile has the best AFCAD available. It's not for the scenery you listed - but it is well worth your trouble to download for the working approaches for the new runway at KDEN. Jim is the person who worked out the way to make the crossing runways work. It's not perfect, and if hearing the fake runways bothers you, don't use them. Currently it's the only option.BTW - if your aircraft files on an exact course of a fake runway - you will be assigned to that runway - nothing can be done about that;however - you always have the option of requesting a different approach and runway.
