July 15, 20169 yr Hi all, This is a problem I've been trying to solve in FS9 for some time now. When I edit the wind sound section in an aircrafts sound configuration folder I do not hear the changes as configured when flying. For example, I set the minimum speed to 250KTAS but the wind sound actually kicks in much earlier say at 125 KTAS during play, surely I should hear no wind sound until I reach 250KTAS as set then increasingly getting louder until it reaches maximum speed? The settings I choose in the wind sound section don't seem to correspond to what I hear whilst playing. If anyone has any ideas that would be great, maybe there is some other setting in FS9 interferring? Cheers
July 15, 20169 yr You need FS Sound studio to edit any sound correctly from the sound.cfg. And the wind sound wav file can itself be any wind sound. Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
July 16, 20169 yr Plenty of scope to get it wrong... see if this helps: Yes, but it's so much simpler and logical using FS Sound Studio! Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
July 16, 20169 yr No doubt, if you're creating complex sound files for multi-engine fighter planes! I'd buy it if I were spending a whole lot of time doing sound, but for a bit of wind noise the (free!) SDK has always sufficed for my simple purposes, which seems to be what the OP asks about. In fact there is so much stuff out there it is often quicker just to copy 'n paste from an existing sound file.
