updating Windows 7 for P3D

I am about to upgrade to the latest version of P3D from 3.1 and have not done any windows updates since May 2015 as I have a dedicated flight sim PC. Can anyone offer me some advice if it would be best to update my windows 7 before doing the P3D update? both my FSX and P3D have been running pretty well.

I would do all the OS updates first then check that all is well in P3D and finally update P3D.
