How do you link to a older post in a different thread without copy/paste?

You cannot.  You can go to the the topic and open up the post and then, in the upper right hand corner of the post, just to the right of the post number, left click on it and it will provide a link which you can share with others.  If you don't want to share the link then you could copy the link and come go to your post and paste it in your post via the "Link" icon in the menu of your post.
