SODE installation into P3d 3.4

I have never manually installed this before but I hear it being referred to a lot. 

 

Does one have to install it manually to gain functionality with it?

I install it manually - then register it - no problems - if it s all ready installed when you load a scenery that wants to install it for you - you know you have the latest so just hit cancel on that installer screen of scenery addon looking to install it
