Reasonable Frame Rate Setting?

Recommended Posts

Made first flight on FSX in my new laptop flying from EBBR to EGPH and so far, everything went smooth!!

Interesting fact is that in my old laptop, FSX averaged between 10 and 15 fps. In my new laptop, FSX averages between 25 and 32 fps. Makes me wonder if I can extend the fps setting from 32 to 40 or 50 for laptop?huh.gif

What is reasonable fps setting for FSX for laptop and for use of payware airport sceneries as I have about 50?  No payware add on aircrafts as I avoid them.

Thanks,

Aharon

Framerates don't seem to affect FSX the same as they do in modern games. 30 FPS in most other games looks a bit like a slideshow but gives smooth graphics in FSX. It may be different between individuals (or monitors) but I can't see any difference in smoothness between 30 and 50+ FPS. I keep mine locked at 30 in-game and set vsync to 1/2 the refresh rate (60Hz for my monitor) and I'm pleased with the results.

As an aside, you really are missing out on some stunning aircraft (both for graphics and system fidelity) by avoiding payware! Very few freeware aircraft even come close to the likes of A2A or RealAir, to name just two companies.
