? about AI traffic

Featured Replies

Could someone answer this question on how ai traffic loads. I understand that ai flightplans have a % at which they will load if you have traffic set to that % or higher. My question is this.....Lets say I have traffic % set at 75%. If I am flying in the US, but have flightplans from all over the world......does FS9 load all flightplans from 75% and below, or just flightplans 75% and below within a certain radius of my aircraft? Thanks!Rick

The percentage slider does not load a percentage of the AI traffic. It loads AI flight plans which the flight plan designer has set at 75% or lower frequency of flight. Many AI flight plan creators use 1% settings for ALL their AI flight plans. This results in the AI slider being useless as in this example from an Independence Air flight plan (only the first leg of each flight is shown).AC#1,N705BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:30,@1/02:04,340,F,1548,KCHS,1/12:05,@1/13:28,350,F,1529,KIADAC#1,N703BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:30,@1/01:33,280,F,1512,KCRW,1/11:50,@1/12:50,290,F,1505,KIADAC#1,N702BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:30,@1/02:22,300,F,1202,KHSV,1/12:00,@1/13:40,330,F,1193,KIADAC#1,N701BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:30,@1/01:57,340,F,1614,KTYS,1/12:00,@1/13:20,310,F,1603,KIADAC#1,N697BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:35,@1/01:33,300,F,1420,KGSO,1/12:20,@1/13:27,290,F,1403,KIADAC#1,N696BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:40,@1/02:08,350,F,1116,KBTV,1/11:10,@1/12:47,320,F,1099,KIADAC#1,N695BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:40,@1/01:54,340,F,1744,KCMH,1/11:40,@1/12:50,330,F,1733,KIADAC#1,N693BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:40,@1/02:02,340,F,1660,KDTW,1/11:25,@1/12:48,330,F,1645,KIADAC#1,N691BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:40,@1/02:00,320,F,1928,KGSP,1/12:00,@1/13:26,370,F,1915,KIADAC#1,N690BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:40,@1/02:18,360,F,1950,KSAV,1/11:50,@1/13:26,350,F,1935,KIADAC#1,N686BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:40,@1/01:49,330,F,1800,KSYR,1/11:30,@1/12:44,340,F,1781,KIADAC#1,N685BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:45,@1/01:59,350,F,1594,KBDL,1/11:25,@1/12:40,360,F,1577,KIADAC#1,N684BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:45,@1/01:51,320,F,1288,KBUF,1/11:35,@1/12:47,330,F,1271,KIADAC#1,N682BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:45,@1/02:05,310,F,1776,KHPN,1/11:24,@1/12:34,300,F,1765,KIADAC#1,N681BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:45,@1/02:17,310,F,1762,KMHT,1/11:10,@1/12:48,320,F,1751,KIADAC#1,N680BR,1%,WEEK,IFR,1/00:50,@1/02:37,320,F,1872,KBNA,1/12:05,@1/13:40,310,F,1855,KIADIf you have multiple traffic files, FlightSim will load the traffic .bgl files in order - starting with the default traffic file first, then others in what appears to be ASCII character order. If the active grids around your aircraft include a grid for the flight - the aircraft will be loaded at the appropriate place.FS continues down the file, one flight plan at a time. The grid around your aircraft is up to 108nm. Not enough parking - usually not at your airport - but all the airports within the active AI zone must have sufficient parking for all the AI traffic.

Thanks Reggie,I already knew about the % number that is in the flightplan. The main part of the question I wanted to know about was if you had flighplans from the other side of the world, would that impact your computer performance where you are fying now. If I fly only the USA & Canada, but want a few KLM and other carriers from Europe, to have have a few planes at KJFK, etc., am I impacting my performance by having the whole KLM flight schedule loaded. There may be a slight impact on load time of the AI traffic because more files are read. That should be only a few - less than 10 - seconds. FlightSim is very efficient at that process. But once the sim loads - flight plans outside your active AI zone do not have any impact on your performance.
