HDR increasing its brightness

Featured Replies

After flying without HDR for a long time I thought I'd give it a try and played around with the settings until I thought it was perfect. For me it makes the outside world look stunningly realistic, especially when adjusting the bloom effect to the weather (sunny or overcast). I didn't know anymore why I hadn't used it for so long.

In the cockpit however I noticed something weird going on. Immediately after switching from the outside to the virtual cockpit the cockpit colors and displays are perfect. But it starts to get brighter and brighter until at some point, it's way too bright and makes the cockpit colors look kind of washed out.

Is there a way to prevent it from getting brighter?

Yep, get PTA and use "Turn off HDR Luminance Adaptation Effect".

Gotta say, where has this tool been all my life?! P3D is looking so egregiously stunning now, I'm sitting in front of my computer smiling like an idiot.

It's sure makes a huge difference. Even the default scenery looks stunning with PTA :)

There's something so real to the colors and the lighting that simply wasn't there before. Looks so vivid compared to before.
