Ortho4xp overlay confusion on creation of folders?

Recommended Posts

I'm slightly confused in the process of "build overlay".. in my case i point it to the custom scenery location for the hd mesh v3..

However.. i was under the understanding that the yOrtho4XP_Overlays folder would get populated with overlays after pressing that button and the compiling completed?

Or.. does it add things to the hd mesh v3 folder instead or both.. ie: at this point i've done maybe 50 or 60 tiles and in my yOrtho4xp_overlays folder i only see about 13 folders..

Slightly confused here..

Thanks in advance

Your understanding is rightI think it groups them 10-20,20-30 etc

OK thanks for confirming. Is it normal for a tile to then not show up with an overlay folder then? Ie: I just redid one and it didn't put a folder in the overlays location

No I don't think so...

What you can try is copy the overlay folder from orthoxp folder..delete the generated one...so essentially u have no folder in there...regenerate the overlay again and see if it generates it back..

What message does it show in console? Was it a batch build? Or a separate process

I figured it out, i was interpreting originally that there should be a single folder for every tile in the overlays.. instead its more like a dsf file instead.

I do have to redo the overlays for about 30 tiles where i had the wrong path in at one point so they never got created.. I think i can just shift select them all and only check off the overlay checkbox on the batch build and then on the main check off dont download and dont convert (i think), to just do the overlays only.

That's what I wound up doing.

I should add, on the map, have to check off use existing mesh (to speed this along).. and build overlays..  (and before that main screen, skip converts/downloads).. doesnt seem to be a way to avoid the "build tile" step and just go to the overlay, but thats ok i guess.
