December 24, 200520 yr OMG,I am installing on a new system (my main computer is out of commission). This is going to take forever. I have so much installed, and now going through and trying to figure out which are the latest versions, etc. and what I had installed before. This is going to take forever.Oh well.Guess there's always a price to an addiction.
December 24, 200520 yr Commercial Member Actually I have found it not so bad. All I do is rename the old version to somthing like FS2004OLD and then install the new version. I then have all my customized folders for modules, aircraft, scenery addons, gauges, effects, sound, intact and just copy them over the new default folders that were created. Granted, I have the hard disk space to do this.Sure, for payware with keys it will take a little time to get the house in order but with a little bit of planning (and back-ups), of your most important files it's not too bad. Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11), EVGA 1300W PSUNetgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displaysFull array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.
December 24, 200520 yr ah,and herein lies the problem for me.I can't access my old disk. My D800 decided it didn't want to go on and basically has melted. They are sending me a new one. My old disk is fine, I just can't access it for a week or so.I can't last that long. I need my fix.Plus, I am starting up a business introducing people to flying through flight simulation, and I need to set up this computer anyway.First class is in a couple weeks, so I can't wait for my new computer to get here before I get this one ready. Good thing is I am catalogueing each thing I load so I can help others do it, too.www.flyingscool.com
December 24, 200520 yr Author Hi,Good luck with reinstalling your system.I like what you are doing with the school, what looks like being 6th graders? This is an excellent way to stimulate interest in flying.Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
December 24, 200520 yr 1st Grade through Adults.I tested it on my son's first grade class last year. The kids loved it. And they were pretty good at it too. I went over things like sectionals (during their maps section) and other stuff, and they were all very interested.
December 24, 200520 yr Author Cool- sounds like an excellent idea.I want to do flight instruction when (if?) I get my commercial and get rated as a CFI, as I hope to find a student that is as mad keen on flying as I was (and still am). I hope you also find some that are mad keen also!Bruce.
