Landing light lightbeams at airports FS9

Featured Replies

Hi!and Happy New Year to you all.I get a little annoyed by the wide and exaggerated lightbeamsfrom aircraft landing lights at airports during dusk/night-flying.Does anyone know if this could be adjusted? It would improve the overall experience, I think.Happy Holidays!Hans HermanssonSweden

This is adjusted with the "spotlight.bmp" file in fs9/texture.There are quite a few mods in the library here. The most pleasing one I have found is the "Xenon" lights. Search "Xenon" and you'll find it. They are a lot more subtle and less intrusive. Rather like those car headlights you see and think at first glimpse that they are blue......

The primary control for FS landing and taxi lights are - as always - in the hands of the modeler. Unless they take the time to make careful adjustments to the angle, elevation, brightness and opacity of them, they will be annoyingly bright, and wash out the very things they are supposed to illuminate! The problem with these "aftermarket" kludges to the base texture file is that, when used with models that have been properly "tuned and adjusted," you will wind up with no lights or at the very least not what the modeler intended.I've seen far too many truly wonderful creations ruined because no one paid any attention whatever to creating proper lighting systems... :-roll
