January 1, 200620 yr Has anyone tried the two FMC flightplans in the iFly package? When flying them, I find that the FMC calculations of time and fuel to the next waypoint are incorrect, sometimes out by a factor of about 4. This then seems to cause the FMC to greatly overestimate the amount of fuel required, and so I get Insufficient Fuel messages nagging me throughout the flight. As soon as they are cancelled, they come right back. I also find that the Flap Relief message comes on during cruise, although the flaps are correctly stowed. Shouldn't happen, should it?I don't want to sound negative about what is the most complete FMC emulation I have ever seen in a freeware package. Pilot error is almost certainly the cause of my problems :)BTW, can anyone recommend some flightplans for relatively short 747 hops?--Bryn

January 2, 200620 yr I downloaded it alright. However, the framerates in 2D brought the system to its knees. So,..it was uninstalled quicker than it was installed. :-lolhttp://www.scandicair.com/images/sa_banner.gif"Real men fly with round gauges"[/color] Staffan
January 3, 200620 yr Author Thanks Stephan. No framerate problems here, and I am running on a sluggish 3GHz laptop with a so-so ATI Mobility 9000 graphics chip. I did find that I could get much better frame rates in Virtual Cockpit than in normal view.It is also possible, when selecting the aircraft variant, to chose a 2D only cockpit. It could be worth experimenting to see what works best for you.Still nobody else actually using the FMC? Maybe all the keen folks have already got the PMDG, which I'm sure is faultless, but why did so many download the iFly 747?Puzzled :)--Bryn
January 3, 200620 yr Maybe to look how it flies and works for a freeware project of such a complexity level ;-) ?Uninstalled it as well, too many flaws and small bugs, unpolished FDE badly suited for hand flying, but still an excellent and remarkable work IMHO.I keep on using the PMDG 747, which (probably because it's payware) is way ahead in terms of quality.Nevertheless I hope the iFly team will not abandon the project and issue patches, I guess many would highly appreciate this.Andreas Andreas, LOWW - Nihil sumus et fuimus mortales.
