Graphics Start Smooth then become Jagged?

Featured Replies

I have a question that I cannot seem to find the answer to. When I load up FS9 the edges are smooth and graphics are clean. But when I make multiple transitions from outside to inside or open the menu then close it the graphics become jagged. For example the LevelD 767 which is a pretty complex aircraft that takes up a lot of memory will do this. If I change the time of season or do something that has to make the scenery reload, it goes back to normal. My question is, what causes this? Is it a lack of memory or processing power? My video card is an ATI9500, 128MB card. My sliders are set pretty high on my video card to give clean graphics. Does anyone else experience this? Is there a fix that doesn't take away from the integrity of the graphics? Etc. Thanks for your help.Kevin

If you're losing the anti-aliasing then your sliders are set too high, either on the card or in the sim. Also, what fps are you locked at? Try lowering that as well. Allcott

My frames are locked at 24 fps. I can try adjusting that AA on both.Thank you and any other thoughts are more than welcome?Kevin

It is usually more efficient performance wise to use the graphic card driver settings and disabling AA in FS. I haven't seen a problem with graphic anomalies with both set, but I have seen it affect performance greatly.

I have the AA turned of in FS9. I use my graphics card to edit AA and such. I did turn down the AA on the graphics card a notch and a notch down on the other (Aneospheric something or other) and this seemed to help a lot. Thanks for the tip. Once I did this the performance was much better and I didn't get the jaggies when changing views. I agree to not let any game dictate what graphic settings you use. Let the card do the work I always say.It was just a strange occurance that I recently noticed. Now we are back to normal...Thanks again,Kevin
