January 6, 200620 yr Greetings all! This is my first post on this forum. :-) I really like the visual model of the FFG Saab 340. I particularly like the wing view allowing me to admire the prop and spinner in the cruise!! ;-) However, it seems to be overly sensitive in pitch which means even small joystick movements lead to unstable pitching moments on final approach. Also can anyone help with the fast taxi speeds. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong and I'm open to suggestions. When can we expect a Saab 340 in American Eagle colours? The best livery ever on a Saab!!Thanks!
January 6, 200620 yr Thanks for your comments about the Saab 340. The FS2004 visual update was done by myself and Pascal Linder, but we used the original FDE. In the aircraft.cfg, try reducing the elevator sensitivity. You can also try to increase the pitch MOI so the pitch movement isn't as jerky, and the pitch stability last so it holds the pitch a bit better before you have to apply trim. I've hoped repainters would have given this attention. It certainly makes the work Pascal and I put in on the project less rewarding when no repaints are done, outside of the personal joy building on such projects gives.-John
January 6, 200620 yr Got a link to the paintkit again? ;-)[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=root&SearchTerm=fritsche&Sort=Added&ScanMode=0&Go=Change+View]My paints...[/a][a href=http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?photographersearch=Danny%20Fritsche%20-%20Airplanespotters&distinct_entry=true]See me at Airliners.net...[/a][a href=http://www.airplanespotters.com]Also at airplanespotters.com...[/a]
January 6, 200620 yr I don't know if Pascal ever got the paintkit established. Hopefully he'll see the thread and respond. I thought he had posted it somewhere, but I didn't find it searching the file library here. -John
January 6, 200620 yr Thanks John I'll give it a try tomorrow. You and Pascal did a great job. I presume his FS2002 Eagle repaint wont work in 2004? Fiveholer, I've seen your repaints and they are awesome! PLEASE if you can paint the Saab in the American Eagle livery that would be fantastic! I know the master textures pack is in Avsim file library (#74524).
January 6, 200620 yr Pascal changed the texture layout for the FS2004 release, so the old master textures for the FS2002 version won't work. Edit--just checked the link and didn't realize Pascal had the new pack in the library--thanks for locating it.-John
January 6, 200620 yr John, I can't believe such a excellent model hasn't been repainted in many liveries. My top livery is Eagle but what about Northwest Airlink (OC) and US Airways Express to name but two others!?
January 6, 200620 yr Yes,I'd love to see a good Saab 340 as well. I used to fly in them quite a bit as a passenger between KBOS and KROC back in the 90's. I think, as noted above, they were usually AE and USAir and perhaps a United Express (?) or something? It would be even cooler to get one with a functional VC as well.Thomas
January 6, 200620 yr I don't think we'll see one with a fully functional VC unless someone's already working on one. It takes too much time to develop when a new sim will come and may obsolete the aircraft anyway, and the community is a bit too tough on freeware designers these days unless the quality is equal to work like that of David Maltby's BAC-111. It takes many months to equal that type of art and anything less goes unnoticed.-John
January 11, 200620 yr Fiveholer,Not sure if you found the link yet but here it is:http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=74524Look forward to seeing it when you are good and ready! ;))Cheers!
January 11, 200620 yr Well John, I still really love the Saab and though I don't paint (no programs or time), I really appreciate the effort to make the model compatible with FS9. Is there any way at all to make the previous paints match the new model? Perhaps that's why no one has painted the liveries again? It's a great freeware model, regardless of the VC being absent. There's a great 2002 panel out that works just fine, and I've got quite a few hours in the ATA Connection Livery. Your work is genuinely appreciated, and I share your frustration that this project hasn't gotten much attention after all of us had begged to have it work in FS9 for the last 2 years. Thanks again to you and Pascal..bestscott
January 11, 200620 yr Pascal changed the mapping for the textures, so the source I received reflects his new mapping which is all on one "master texture". It would take a major effort to remap the fuse against the old textures, if it could be done at all. Animations now exist and windows have been cut in the fuse that change the texture mapping as well. I tried some old textures on the aircraft, and they just don't line up right even if I stretch and/or try shrinking them.-John
January 12, 200620 yr Pascal was specific in his EULA and he doesn't allow repaints uploads in public sites different than VAs.We made one for AAVirtual, but unfortunately the access is for members only, and you have to take a checkride test to become one.I guess I will have to upload it in my freewebs address and post the link here.Leo
January 12, 200620 yr LeoPlease do post the link here I have been itching to fly the AE Saab 340 for ages! Pascal recently posted the master texture files in the avsim library so hopefully he meant for folks to repaint it.
January 13, 200620 yr Actually it is in a FTP which can be accessed only with a username and password, so there's not available link.Just let me knowm where I can mail them and you'll have it in your inboxLeo
