Removing AI aircraft from FS9's environment without recompiling BGLs....

Featured Replies

OK now....While I do know quite a bit about editing FS2004's settings, I hate to edit stuff in it without knowing for certain the actual results of my tinkering, so....I want to prevent certain AI aircraft from being displayed in FS2004's AI traffic environment, without having to go through all of the trouble of editing and then recompiling my AI traffic BGL file in order to remove one or just a few AI aircraft out of over 3,000 AI aircraft.I DO know that what identifies an AI aircraft for any certain AI traffic BGL is the AI aircraft's title name (the name that's written in the AI aircraft's Aircraft.cfg file section in front of the TITLE line, for example TITLE=Saudi Arabian Airlines 777-200ER).So, if I just edit a certain AI aircraft's title name by entering in the title name any extra letter or word, for example "DISABLED" or "#####", this should render the AI aircraft invisible to my AI traffic BGL file, in other words, the traffic BGL file won't be able to load the AI aircraft because it couldn't find it in the Flight Simulator 9/Aircraft folder. HOWEVER....Will this cause the traffic BGL file to crash FS9, or will it keep searching for the AI aircraft in question, and thus slowing up the PC and by doing so slowing up FS9, or will it just ignore the AI aircraft in question because it failed to find it in the Flight Simulator 9/Aircraft folder, and thus create no problems for FS9????Your input about this matter is very much appreciated. :-waveCheers,

You're on the right track. Beacuse the stock, untouched traffic file is one big file, the only way without decompiling is to mess with the TITLE line. I don't think it will crash fs9, the plane will not appear. This is a common problem with people doing up their AI and can't work our why their new plane won't appear! :-)

You could always download GS-Traffic from the library. There, you can deselect/select which AI aircraft you wish to have included in it's own generation of flightplans. It is a very stable and worthy program.

Max and dutton: Thanks a lot for your input!!!! :-waveCheers,

>You could always download GS-Traffic from the library.Did you mean GA-Traffic? It is a good one! Can't find GS-Traffic.
