June 5, 20179 yr I wonder if we'll see PMDG using this new approach to keeping 3rd party files out of the main sim? I've had trouble so far this weekend (not with PMDG, but with scenery) because the new UTF-16 encoding in many of the config files is somewhat "brittle" with respect to older installers. I do like the idea of having a clean main sim install. In my early working with the 744, it seems that PMDG is back into the main P3D install directory. June 5, 20179 yr Author Hi Ed, No, they didn't leave. But it seems that LM is a bit more direct about their desire that Add-ons stay out of the main install directory. It seems like the "new dawn" that is 64-bit would be an opportunity to abide by LM's published guidelines. It seems that many elements required for even aircraft addons can remain outside of the P3D install directory.
