Creating taxiways in WED

I created a new draped poly and proceeded to create a large taxiway system for an airport. It looks terrific and works well...however....when I use the XP11 Customise option to select a gate or starting point, none of the taxiways I created with the draped poly show....only a runway sitting by itself.

Do I still have to create a taxiway using the default XP11 taxiway surface?
