Scenery Precedence

Featured Replies

With the proliferation of some of the best payware enhancements to FS9, I find myself a bit confused regarding order precedence in the scenery cfg file. I have the following products. Can someone offer a correct priority order? Assume "default scenery" is level 1 (lowest) default terrain is level 2, etc.Ground EnvironmentUltimate Terrain USUltimate Terrain CANADA/ALASKAFS GLOBAL MESH LOD10(Pilot)MY WORLD 2005 LANDCLASSMEGASCENERY QLRP4UT (Quantum Leap, freeware)Scenery Specific LandclassScenery specific MeshThanks for any helpDom

Hi Dom,see my recent post at the bottom of this thread: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=305014&page=2What I don't mention in it are photoreal add-ons. Most of those, including Megascenery, will automatically overwrite vector-based data like Ultimate Terrain but they should be at a higher level (i.e., priority) than any custom land class library entry. Also, as far as I know GE doesn't have a scenery library entry, thus you can drop that from your list.Optional test question: given what I posted, what do *you* think the order of those entries should be ;-)Cheers, HolgerP.S.: I thought the FS Global Mesh was LOD9 not LOD10?

clipped.......>>Optional test question: given what I posted, what do *you*>think the order of those entries should be ;-)Greetings from the colonies Holger, and thanks for the response. Here goes....Top to bottom:1.Individual scenery. I have mine sorted by continent or area such as: Europe - UK - Stansted Germany - Bremen US - DCA2. Landclass arranged by continent and country3. Mesh arranged by continent and country 4. FS2004 Basics. That scenery both photo, aireal and generic from the FS install process5. UT US6. UT Canada/Alaska7. Megascenery (in my case, Mid Atlantic only)8. Addon Scenery(from FS9 install)9. Objects & libraries (from FS9 install)10. My World 2005 Landclass11. FS Global Mesh (You are correct it is LOD-9)12. Default Scenery (from FS9 install)13. Default Terrain (from FS9 install)I have this set up like this because I use Michael Garbers' Scenery Manager. With this utility, I can create various countries or areas to fly in and only specify the scenery I need. So If I fly Scandinavia, I only have to load my Scandinavia file which excludes all scenery not pertinent to Scandinavia, for example "Megascenery".quite a ramble and I hope it makes sense. Further thoughts on the order or other comments? I hope you grade on a curve.:-hahDom
