Steam question

Recommended Posts

Hi all-

I want to set up a basic flight sim on a used Win7 mid-level machine I have for a student at our school that's got the bug :>)

P3D would be way too much so I'm thinking FSX via Steam. I've been a P3DvXXX user for quite some time so not sure how to proceed with this. Any caveats/suggestions be fore I begin with this?

Thanks!

Mark

Do you mean cost or complexity? If complexity, FSX can be just as complex as P3D - it's all down to the add-ons.

Just create a Steam account if you don't already have one and download the Steam client. I'd recommend not putting it in the default Program Files location as it can cause permission problems. Then just go to the Steam store and buy/install FSX. If your student has never used a flight sim before, I'd just start with the default aircraft and avoid making any of the popular tweaks unless you really have a problem. FSX will run successfully on quite basic hardware as long as set the options fairly low.

Thanks Vortex, I appreciate it. I'll let you know how this works out.
