I used to go MS Flight Simulator General Discussion Forum MS Flight Simulator Tips and Tricksand get to a thread about setting up FS for good results. Not the FS9.cfg care and maintenance thread. One of the comments was how to set the autopilot so that if the altitude was in hold mode, you could still fly left and right by hand. What are the lines to put in the autopilot section of the aircraft config file to do that? It said it made the autopilot act like it did in FS2002. Also, where is that thread?

Don't know where the thread is, but the line you want under the autopilot heading isuse_no_default_bank=1

That's one of them and there was another line as well. That thread seems to have disappeared.JimCYWG

I'm probably missing the point of the question but if I'm on A/P with heading, altitude and speed selected and wish to alter heading by hand I just deselect the heading item on the A/P and enter/scroll a new heading then reselect the heading in A/P. I guess maybe you are looking for the turn and bank sensation, if so, I don't know that answer.Gary

With the us_no_default_bank=1 line, the pilot can engage the altitude hold and still have the ability to manually fly/bank the aircraft to any desired heading.

Thanks for squaring me off . I didn't know that. Never too old to learn a new trick. Thanks to this forum I learn something new every day.Gary
