Level D 767 Nav 1 HELP !!!

Featured Replies

I have read the manul cover to cover and can't find a solution to my problem. On the main panel there is a button next to Nav 1 to allow you to change it from manual to auto. While flying I am unable to change it to auto. Should I be able to do this? It seems to be stuck in manual and I cannot set it to certain frequencies. The last two digits take a big jump ie: from 110.30 , 110.45. 110.85 etc. with nothing inbetween. I thought if the switch was in manual I should be able to tunean ILS freq. in the FMC but am unable to do so.Perhaps I am missing or overlooking something simple. Please excuse my ignorance but please: HELP !!! Thanks in advance. Craig

Jim, I have tried to set it on the pedastal. If I do that it does notshow up in the Nav 1 window on the MCP...should it??Craig

The frequency on the MCP will only display a VOR. You cannot set an ILS frequency on the MCP. To set the ILS frequency, you must set it on the pedestal and it will only display on the pedestal. It's all covered in the manual. Also, take a look through the various posts on the dedicated forums at Level-D. There's a lot of interesting information. Thanks ...I have registered at the Level D Forum and am having problems accessing. Will check out the ILS next time I fly. ce

ILS frequency and course can be set on the pedestal or through the fmc/cdu. Unlike other aircraft, the 767 has a dedicated ILS reciever separate from nav 1. The Nav 1 on the main panel is used to tune a specific VOR/DME in manual mode or alternately in auto mode will automatically tune the nearest VOR/DME Frequency. There should be no problem changing from auto to manual or vice versa. Make sure the radios section in the aircraft.cfg looks like this. [Radios]// Radio Type = availiable, standby frequency, has glide slopeAudio.1 = 1Com.1 = 1, 1Com.2 = 1, 1Nav.1 = 1, 1, 1Nav.2 = 1, 1, 0Adf.1 = 1Transponder.1 = 1Marker.1 = 1Problems with tuning radios are usually found in this section. Not all aircraft are the same. The one above is for the LDS767.

Thanks for the answers. Just tried it and works no problem. Apparently by brain was't working correctly trying to inerput parts of the manual. Problem solved. Thanks again. Ce

Just to add. If you have manually selected the on-side EHSI to display either VOR mode, the on-side NAV receiver can not be set in AUTO. And if you have it on AUTO and then change EHSI to VOR, the respective NAV receiver will also change to MAN.Tero
