FS 2004 Dispaly problem

Featured Replies

hello i m sending mail first time and hope i will get good response i m using FS2002 and 2004. but i m not getting the same display in FS 2004 as i m geting in 2002 (it is really good with all water and other effects) can u give some good advice to solve this problem.naburney:-wave

Simple, two differently written programs. As will be FS-10.Try checking your 'display' settings, are they the same?Don't forget that FS9 is a much better 'Sim' due to progression. If we could all get the same display as we get in FS2004 with FS2002, we'd all still be using it!Dave T. .........On the Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/

I think Dave is right, FS2002 is a much older program so it does not look as good as the newer 2004. That should be your answer unless we have misunderstood your question. Maybe if you can be more specific with the differences that you see we can answer your question a little better. Keep in mind that each version that comes out looks more and more like real life but at one time all that showed up on the screen was the wire frame outline of only a few buildings not the good looking buildings we have today.Take care,Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg

I'm pretty sure you guys misunderstood. It looks to me like he is saying he gets better results out of 2002 than 2004 (since the subject says 2004 display problems).Just as a sanity check, 2004 should definitely look better. On my machine, not only does it look better but behaves better in every way.I saw a post on Flightsim.com forum this morning which might be your problem:From Flightsim Forum:"With the kind help from other simmers I've finally found the solution to my 'missing water reflections problem', which may also be helpful to others in the same spot.I use Windows XP Pro with Danish language settings, and this is (strange as it may sound) the reason for the missing reflections. The solution is to go to Windows conrol panel and choose US English setting. When FS starts it now has all the bells and whistles that go with vivid looking waters - it really makes a great difference!"http://forums.flightsim.com/dc/dcboard.php...id=51090&page=3Are you using the english version of Win XP?If this isn't the problem, how about your video card? Which one are you using? Also, DX9 is required to see water effects. Which version do you have?Hope some of this helps.God bless,Earl

From the pictures you have posted, you aren't getting ANY display!!Reminds me of FS-1.Your video card is the culprit, I don't see any details of your CPU?Dave T. .........On the Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/

Hi Burney,Wow, that is awful! I didn't realize how bad till you sent the pics....It looks to me like your video card isn't working. The 5200 is a pretty old card to begin with but it should do better than that! When you go into "Settings" then "Display" then "Hardware" section, can you see your card listed in the window? I had this problem when I first installed FS9.Make sure you can see the card name. Mine is listed like this:note: these should be square brackets(DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600XT.0) Mode=1024x768x32TriLinear=1If you don't see anything there, go into Fs9.cfg. Scroll down to Display Device shown in sqare brackets. What card, if any, is listed there?I'm not the best one to ask about this further. If this doesn't work, please do a search in the Forums for video card problems or go over to the Hardware forum and post your problem there. They have a bunch of video gurus who can easily help you.Hope this works!Good news is, it will work out for you eventually.God bless,Earl

It sounds to me like you may have installed an add-on scenery that came with a flight. The flight must have somehow gotten saved as your "default flight". In addition, the added on scenery must have somehow become corrupted or wasn't installed properly so that the texture files are not where they should be so the computer can't load them. This would all seem to be the case from the pictures and your description. Even if you didn't install anything recently, it seems the default flight is not correct. Here is what I would do:First, make a note of the airport that looks so bad. After you do the following you won't be opening there anymore. If the below fixes the start up problems, you will want to try going there again to make sure it is still corrupted.Start FS9 and allow it to open all the way. The default airport and flight is KSEA, so get to the "Create a Flight" section.Choose the default cessna C172SP Skyhawk as your plane, Fair weather, in the "Select Location" Choose KSEA (Seattle - Tacoma). Now select the correct season and time of day.Once all this is selected, click "Save Flight". A window will open. At the bottom of this window, there is a checkbox to make this your default flight. Click in the box. Click "OK". Click "Fly Now". FS should open to KSEA with the cessna and look great. I would shut FS9 down and re-open to test. I would try going to some other airports around the world to test.Hopefully this will get you at least opening correctly. According to your last comments, FS9 is fine when you go to other airports and sceneries, right? You still need to either fix the problem scenery or delete it. Have you added anything just before this started?Earl>dear Earl>thanks for takeing interest.>before i go to hardwaer section advice by u this is full>picture of the problem.> i tell u that when i strat my FS2004a window pop up with>massage >>requested flight file is corrupt or cant be found. Hey Burney,I'm glad you fixed it. Nice work. My understanding is that you can use the GPS from 2002. I don't know as I use the GPS in FS9 that came with it. You might try searching for GPS in the forum and see if anything turns up.Happy flying!God bless,Earl

Burney,I, like you had trouble initialy operating and learning how to use the FS9 GPS too.I did this; locate the video'd instruction within your FS9 folder, open it into a seperate window. Now fire up FS9 and bring up the GPS in the plane your flying.Watch part of the video in your other window and use 'pause' whenever you want to. Go back to the window containing your FS and operate your GPS as shown in the video. It won't be too long before you remember what to do.Good luck,Dave T. .........On the Devon Riviera and active 'FlightSim User's Group' member at http://www.flightsimgrpuk.free-online.co.uk/http://www.captainsim.com/user/dl/c130/c130_captain.gif
