March 18, 200620 yr I have been experimenting with user generated clouds, winds, gust, speeds, hdgs, etc. in FS9 to get some very nasty effects in flight and the results are spectacular. But I am not sure how to simulate windshear or a t-storm microburst (to get virtually opposite wind suddenly) in the vicinity for the approach to TD but not necessarily all the way down to landing which would be a total disaster. Can anybody advise the best way to set the wx up for this, please? March 19, 200620 yr hi js, i didn't experience much shear when i used the 2D cockpit but after switching to the VC the whole weather world has changed. in general i experience weather alot more using the VC. not trying to get into a 2D or 3D thing here but it's just what i've noticed. this probably isn't exactly what you're talking about but wanted to throw it in anyway. i have been blown with a good crosswind using the VC during approaches and found it VERY difficult to stay lined up on the runway. william
March 19, 200620 yr That is indeed interesting. I must try doing that on final in the PMDG 744 and see how it looks and "feels"!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
March 19, 200620 yr 2D or 3D panel makes no difference in weather, wonder what that dude is smokin?Getting a windshear warning in this picture http://forums.flightsim.com/dc/dcboard.php...=434751&page=42A 737-200 using real weather during a hurricane last year in Ft. Lauderdale.
March 19, 200620 yr anyone who uses the VC will tell ya there's a big difference. for whatever reason it has some sort of effect. william
March 19, 200620 yr Maybe you're confusing turbulence and windshear. If you use Active Camera the "head latency" turbulence effect in the VC is much more noticeable. I agree that panel selection does not effect FS9 weather in any way.
March 19, 200620 yr If I were connected with my FS9 PC to the web, I might well be tempted to instal ActiveSky. But I opted for fluidity as my No. 1 priority and I will do almost anything these days to keep it thus. I am sure that will change eventually, as most things do, but on this PC and for now, it's FS9 only and nothing else. So I need to become master of User Wx in the sim.JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
March 19, 200620 yr hi kyle, well, what i should have said is that by using the VC you seem to get a bigger picture or experience of what's already going on around the aircraft, like weather instead of getting lesser when using the 2D cockpit. no, the VC isn't going to effect the weather, guess i came across like it did but it doesn't. i just experience MORE weather using the VC. william
