Is my current water cooler man enough

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm going to update my pc next year with a new mobo cpu and possibly a new gpu.

I'm initially thinking about an i7 8700k and getting it delided and hopefully getting one that has been oc'd to the 5ghz mark

I'm currently using the corsair h110 water cooler for my cpu.but will this be ok for an i7 8700k or will i need something bigger and if so any recomendations please

Thanks

Pete Little

The H110 should work well with the 8700k, especially if it's delidded. Out of interest, what is your current system?

I'm not an expert on your CPU, but it's difficult to imagine the performance improvement would justify the cost of upgrading to the 8700k - your processor has already got 6 cores with the same sized cache and you have it overclocked to a similar speed. The 4790k, which is apparently not as good for gaming as your CPU, compares favourably in most modern games with the 8700k. I would definitely upgrade the GPU but there's probably mileage left in the CPU.
