March 26, 200620 yr Author I have an LSZH freeware scenery by Mohler. It is FS8 with an FS9 patch available. The only problem I had is that it included an APxxxx.bgl which caused mislocated terrain around runways. I put back the default and it looks OK.It looks kind of nice. I did modify the AFCAD I had to match later taxiway routings in the scenery to make reaching 14/32 correctly from southwest parking. I used templates from the VATSIM EUROPE SAG site which reference the Mohler scenery.Be aware that Zurich has a closed E-W runway and associated obsolete taxiways.I believe the SAG site has pointers to the Mohler scenery on AVSIM or Flightsim libs. You might wish to try that freeware before purchasing the Aerosoft product. That being said I can highly recommend the Aerosoft scenery products. I purchased their updated Germany 1,3,4 and France 1,2 as well as MegaFrankfurt. Aerosoft provides printed airport documentation regarding the airport use, parking, and Jeppeson charts (printed oversized booklet) for each location. I expect German Airports 2 this summer based on an e-mail from one of their developers regarding Cologne/Bonn. Be aware that the older FS8 collections do not work well with FS9 even with some available patches so be sure you get the latest Aerosoft CDs. There are some bundled scenery products now on sale at aerosoft.com.I became fascinated with the area after looking at the Bel-Air and Hapag-lloyd Express videos from Just Planes. With Holger's freeware Alps mesh the area gets very nice even at high altitudes. On Zurich departures (following the DPs) and arrivals (STARS) as well as IAP plates what I see is very much like out the cockpit windows from the videos. For destinations from Zurich check out the freeware isdproject files here on AVSIM for Rome and other Italian airports being sure you get the latest versions.
July 24, 200619 yr www.freez.aero !Freeware scenery under development. Quite a few buildings yet to be textured, but main terminal and midfield are there. Good ground textures. Smaller buildings are not yet there, maintenance area not built, REGA base not built.Remember that this is version 0.1 and has some way before being released at V1.0. Even so, if you use the main terminals exclusively you'll probably like the scenery. Note that the screenshots are out-of-date - there are no bright pink and purple (untextured) buildings in the 0.1 version. Don't let that put you off downloading it (31MB).There's a forum for bug-reporting (eg antennae on main tower are displaced at the moment). It is also a bit frame-intensive because the buildings are modelled in detail but without any/enough levels of detail. For today's Zurich there's no competition IMO.There's also an interesting Brussels project at bsprojects.be - although the site often seems not to work.HTHBela
July 24, 200619 yr To Ronzie - The UK AIP at 24 July 2006 shows 10/28 as open. ILS testing for r/w 28 (109.750) is NOTAMed for October this year. The taxiways aren't obsolete - they're undergoing work (NOTAM A0302/06). There's a temporary closure of 10/28 for a few weeks only (NOTAM A0301/06). For the sake of FS it is probably best to assume 10/28 to be open unless you're flying online!
July 24, 200619 yr Author Thanks for the update. I wonder if 10/28 will be used for restricted operations to open up congestion on the two (almost) parallels. Zurich appears to be quite a busy airport.
