CLOUD9 Amsterdam scenery: How are framerates?

Featured Replies

Hello,I am considering switching from the Netherlands 2000 freeware to the Cloud9 Amsterdam city and Schipol airport scenery and wanted actual users of the cloud9 scenery to comment on how their framerates are like.Has anyone currently using CLOUD9 Amsterdam a former user of the Netherlands 2000 and how do the framerates compare? I get the impression that the CLOUD9 is friendly on framerates like the Fly Tampa Miami is, for example (I have the KMIA). Is this true? Did you notice an increase in framerates after switching from the NL2000 to the CLOUD9 Amsterdam? Thanks for any input.John

of course it all depends on your AI traffic. but my frames are great at cloud9s EHAM. Never used NL2000, but I highly recommend Cloud9s scenery! Looking forward to their LAX too!! There are replacement ground textures here in the library, and also there are tips in their forum to turn off the city scenery to save frames

Yes, I concur.Very realistic rendition of this airport and quite healthy on performance. With 90 per cent AI, broken CU clouds and 2D panel of PMDG I get around 15-16 fps.It comes supplied with choice of custom AFCAD files depending on wind direction or traffic density flows, so it makes it very interesting indeed.Highly recommended,CheersDom

And I agree as well... I was quite hesitant before being the scenery, but am really satisfied with it.Michel

Thank-you for all your inputs.Actually, I think the NL2000 being freeware is a gift for all the flight sim community especially since it is such a beautiful rendition of Schipol and of the Netherlands as whole and I am thankful for the Netherlands 2000 team for their wonderful product. Just that the framerates are something they need to consider and it was starting to become highly disruptive for me, especially on the final approach to Schipol (EHAM) where framerates (with NO AI traffic - at 0%) were dipping to 5-6 fps, effecting my hand-eye coordination while trying to keep my heading with the runway during a manual landing. But it's great to know, Davis, that NL2000 is planning on an improved perfomance version. I would probably not even consider payware with such a great freeware scenery already out, if it wasn't for the framerates.John
