My Transition from FSX Boxed To FSX:SE

Featured Replies

Well, I took the plunge after a month or so and hearing from some of you here on this forum and made the transition.  First I must give credit where credit is due.  Thanks to Tristan (Novawing24) for his excellent tutorial on how to do this transition.  I followed his instructions exactly and he made it nearly painless.  I am now in the process of reinstalling all of my Orbx scenery of which I have a significant amount.  That will probably take about 5 - 6 hours but had FSX deleted and FSX:SE installed in about 2 hours as I went over each step 2-3 times before actually doing it since I'm a near moron when it comes to computers.  After Orbx, REX4, then FSUIPC and I'll be good to go.  Thanks for the advice from those that answered my post.  Looking forward to getting back in the cockpit and see how FSX:SE performs.  If anyone might be interested here is a link to Tristan's tutorial.  It is a two part tutorial.  Highly recommended if anyone might be thinking about doing this.

Actual time to complete the reinstall was 13 hours.  Didn't realize just how long it would take to reinstall all of my Orbx scenery.
