March 27, 200620 yr Having only really "flew" the LDS 767 using the fmc i was wondering how is the 727 flown without using computer aids? Would one fly from VOR to VOR inputting the radio frequency and course heading as the flight progresses, are intersections also used, a brief explanation would be appreciatedp.s does the dreamfleet 727 come with a kneeboard where you could input your flight data and just pull it up as required?Paul.
March 27, 200620 yr Commercial Member Yep, hard though it is to believe, navigating for the vast majority of 727 was done by tuning the radios, and still is today! Even now, GPS is only used in those that have it as a situational awareness back-up.Best way to use it is to create and print your flightplan, but you can edit the kneeboard in the same way as any other aircraft in FS if you want.Dreamfleet Project ManagerGreatest Airliners - DC-8Greatest Airliners - 727 Whisperjethttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...BANNER_PAUL.jpg Cheers Paul Golding
March 27, 200620 yr If you install the CIVA INS you can navigate using intersections too, although the INS doesn't save its status if you exit FS, so you have to get there in one go!I think the installer for the INS is on AVSIM, but be warned it's another thing to learn, so you may want to get used to VOR navigation before you try the INS.One of the most useful things for me has been to use FSNavigator to plan routes, that way I can bring up the window within FS, get the frequencies an off I go without having to pause or ALT-TAB.
March 27, 200620 yr Check this out...Fed Ex - still flying the old fashioned way http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1011314/M/Sure does look like fun!Cheers,(SONIC) BooneCurrently saving pennies for a new pooter for FSX (don't tell the misses!)
