flaps behavior

Recommended Posts

Am I the only one who thinks that aircraft nose up reaction to lowering flaps is excessive? I know that one can change the numbers with plane maker, but, as someone who just getting the feel for xplane, I'd like to know if anyone has already made the changes so that I can simply edit the aircraft file. The md80 is the one that interests me.

Thanks

tony

Laminar are improving teh flight regime, but that means teh developers need to go and refine and changes, probably best to find someone who actually flies the real bird and ask them, does it really behave this way. They all after all perform differently/

Yes, indeed on most aircraft the flap pitching moments can be overdone, or even reverse of what the case is for each aircraft model, compared to real life.

It's always possible to fine tune this in Plane Maker, and there is even a way to set the pitching moment as negative or positive.

With the propwash model introduced in the latest betas, including downwash calculations, maybe in the future we can even see the true effect over the elevator coming to live in some well designed X-Planes ( ? ), but I'm not sure if that will make it into the current version.

Anyway, thing are moving ahead, fast, and promising with XP11 !
