Rudder - normal on ground, low sensitivity airborne

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have recently reinstalled the entire P3D v4.1 system due to a SSD crash. Before that I was mostly flying GA VFR with A2A Cessna 172.

When I did some test flights, all seemed fine until I tried to apply some rudder to yaw the plane. The pedal goes to the left, the vertical stabilizer as well but the plane just isn't yawning (just a tiny little bit, like if I tried to bank with control locks on). The plane steers just fine on the ground.

I tried different planes (default like Piper Cub, Mooney Bravo) and the problem was there as well... Helicopters turn around normally.

For a minute I was confused and thought that it was normal but it must have felt differently before the reinstall, otherwise I don't think I would have noticed.

Just to be sure that it isn't behaving as it should, I attach a video I made: (it's raw without any editing, just for the purpose of this thread, so the video isn't good and I am not even attempting to fly correctly)

As you can see, I apply full rudder, both left and right, the stabilizer is deflecting but the plane is very rigid. Is this behavior correct? There is NO WIND. When i am on short final and there is a crosswind, I am unable to line the plane up with the runway, it just doesn't yaw.

I remember before that when I was turning and added some rudder pressure to stay in coordinated flight, it was quite sensitive and when I overshot the rudder, I lost lift quite fast. Nothing like that now.

I assign all my controls via FSUIPC 5. The one thing that has changed from the last install is that I purchased SIMstarter NG from Aerosoft. Didn't really get to play with it yet. Could that be the problem somehow?

Any help or explanation would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tomas

Be sure autorudder is not enabled in the sim or through FSUIPC. What you are describing is typical of the autorudder setting being on.

You're right! The software that I bought (SIMstarter NG) had it set by default. Thanks very much!!! :-)
